Announcing Town Planning Workshops this Spring
Announcing Town Planning Workshops this Spring
Aquinnah residents are invited to participate in a series of planning activities focused on Town Hall and the adjacent town-owned properties. A steering committee of Carolyn Feltz, Camille Rose, Carl Widdiss, and Kathy Newman has been formed to facilitate community participation in this planning process. The committee will be responsible for making preparations for community design workshops to be held at the beginning of April (on either the first or second weekend), and is looking for you input and ideas.

Faculty and students from landscape architecture and planning programs at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry will facilitate community participation in the workshops.  This group has extensive experience in community-based planning and, at the town workshops, they will conduct hands on activities to foster a community dialogue that documents issues and concerns, and considers future opportunities at the site.  The design team will then prepare a series of conceptual design strategies for the property that address community-identified issues and build on recognized opportunities.  The design strategies will be illustrated and presented to the community for review and evaluation.

Over the winter the steering committee will be meeting with town organizations (in advance of the spring planning workshops) to understand their concerns regarding this property and to discuss the opportunities that they see for its future use.  The committee will be contacting community organizations over the next few weeks but interested groups can also contact Carolyn Feltz at the Town Hall to learn more about the project.
