CONFIDENTIALITY POLICY
It is the policy of the Wampanoag Women’s Center to hold confidential all communications, observations and information made by, between or about advocacy program participants. This includes all advocacy program participants, service and administrative records resulting from telephone contacts, and any other work product related to recipients of service.
Communications are confidential whether made by adults or children, and whether to or between staff, volunteers, student interns or advisory committee members of this program.
The identity and communications of program participants will be held confidential to the Wampanoag Women’s Center. It will not share the identity or communications with any staff, committee member, or Council member of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head Aquinnah, including the Human Services and Health Departments.
COMMUNITY COMMITMENT
Traditionally Native communities supported women who were in crisis or transition. This often allowed women to be able to move on with their lives where without that support it may have seemed impossible. Community support also let the women know that they were valued and the perpetrators that their behavior was not acceptable.
How the Community Can Support the Wampanoag Women’s Center
Volunteer
Child Care: During all of the events child care will be provided. All volunteers must pass a background check, not have an open case with DCF, and attend provided training.
Administrative Projects: Projects include creating spreadsheets and data bases, researching, and other activities that could be done from home.
Advocacy: Online, On-site, and webinar trainings are offered periodically so that community members can be a better support for loved ones as well as increase capacity of the Center.
Fundraising: Fundraising is not allowed for staff by current funding. Fundraising project could help support the cost of a future shelter.
Our Commitment To You
The Wampanoag Women’s Center is fully committed to protecting, supporting, and empowering the women of the Aquinnah Wampanoag Community. Confidentiality will be maintained as it is essential to a woman’s safety and trust. Our main goal is to empower women and to help them accomplish their goals, not ours. The Wampanoag Women’s Center will provide opportunity for participant direction in services, activities, planning, and feedback. Anonymous satisfaction surveys will always be readily available and the collective results will be reported to the advisory committee for program accountability.
